With innovation labs being the first point of call for companies aiming to recharge their strategy – it is also something that is quite rarely done right. 90% of innovation labs are failing – however those who are doing it right are reaping the rewards, think Commonwealth Bank, Google etc. This workshop will look into the basics of establishing an innovation lab from preparing a business case through to post occupancy.

  • How to prepare a business case and enable stakeholder buy in
  • Understand the innovation process: define, ideate, prototype and test
  • How to create an army of innovators –understanding what your opportunity would look like if you could tap into hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs from around the world to solve your challenges, and how you can translate that to building an internal innovation culture
  • How to leverage open innovation - looking at what’s beyond corporate innovation and why your best chance of competing is actually collaborating

12:00 PM - 2:00 PM How to Choose the Right Internal Innovation Program for Your Organisation and Building the Best Team

Innovation offers many potential benefits to organizations, including improvements in customer experience, increased market share, reductions in costs, and improved ability to attract and retain highly qualified talent. Given the importance of innovation and its potential benefits, an organization should plan the process of innovation in a way that reflects a deliberate strategy. In general, the selection of an innovation strategy should be based on the answers to three key questions:

1. In what focus areas do we want to innovate?
2. Where do we want to be on the innovation curve?
3. What is our internal strategy for generating and executing innovative ideas?

  • Explore business model design and understand how a value proposition can be successfully scaled up to a profitable business
